Art - Artist Statement!

Today I have some questions to answer about my experience in this Lino cut session. At the moment I have finished the cutting part of my Lino cut. I have learned so much about Lino cutting and I hope to do it again some time! Now lets get straight into the questions!

Q - Describe your work. Create 3 sentences to answer the following: what is it a picture of, what shapes have you used, what was your inspiration?

A - Well the picture of my Lino cut is a rose with my name as the stem. I have used some triangles as you can see from the photo down below. And my inspiration to do a rose for my Lino cut is that, I love roses and my favourite Disney movie is Beauty And The Beast and the rose represents the movie/me very well.

Q - Did you have any trouble creating this piece?

A - To be honest, no! (:

Q - Does your work have any meaning to it? Are you trying to give the viewer a message?

A - Yes. I actually want to spread the message that nature is a part of us and we need to look after it like it looks after us. And .. VALENTINES IS THE BEST HOLIDAY EVER! (:

Q - What are you enjoying about creating this piece? What could you do better next time?

A - I am enjoying the fact that we can be very creative with this in our own way. Maybe next time I should think out of the box and create something more bigger then a simple rose.

Q - What have you learned?

A - I have learned that Lino cutting is really fun to do!

I hope you enjoy this Artist Statement and I hope you have also learned something today!

  1. What a great blog post Faith! I loved reading your answers to the questions because you gave so much detail about why you chose to do things the way you did. Your linocut looks very nice! I like how you connected your favourite movie to your art work and found a creative way to include your name also!
I look forward to seeing the finished product.
